I'm 26 year veteran now in a staff position in a rural small town. I purchased these boots to replace a pair of competitor's boots which were also 6" side zip boots. Compared to my previous boots, these are lighter and made of better materials. Out of the box my first impression was that the leather on the toe box was of higher quality. After proper prep they shined up nicely. The second positive is that they are light. Third is that they do not squeak on tile floors like other similar boots. Lastly, the price is right. Great boots

I am just a patrol officer and not an "operator" so I cannot attest to "hard use" but, I purchased these boots about three months ago so now it is time for th initial review. I had another brand that I had worn for about 6 years until they had a quality control issue that sent me looking. First Tactical showed up and I started considering them. Since they were offered at $80 I decided to make the leap. After a little back and forth shipping, which was really easy, I obtained the correct size.

My initial impression was that they were REALLY LIGHT! I started wondering if they would hold up or not. I have had only one small stitch on the front of the right boot toe box that came out so far. I cut the excess and nothing else has unraveled. The treads seem to be holding up so far. My beat has urban and rural areas and there has been no time where I wondered if my boots would fail. I even had a foot pursuit and not once lost footing. My other boots could not boast that.

Comfort has been good. My feet do not hurt at the end of the day.

I have had to wash mud off of them, dressed some polish on them and could not observe any scratches or wear. They really have held up well.

They sent some free socks with the boots which I honestly can not figure out. They fit kind of like a dress sock and come up to my knees. I can not tell that they help with fatigue. Nice but I won't be buying any socks. I will however buy new boots when these have done their due.

These are my boots are my first experience with First Tactical's brand, and it won't be the last! Out of the box these boots look sharp, with a nice sheen on the leather and durable looking and feeling construction. They fit well, and are true to size. The break-in process took about a week, that goes for the zipper as well. It was very stiff when I first got them. but after several days the zipper loosened up and works freely now. These boots are very fast to get off, a very important feature since I work as firefighter. My old 8-inch boots took some work to get off, these slip off much easier.

The only thing I didn't like was the hardness of the soles, my feet would always ache after a shift. The fire station I'm at has hard granite floors, not the most forgiving on any shoes or boots. The very easy fix was a set of Orholite insoles, after slipping them the problem was solved. They wear well, and I've noticed they are fairly resistant to water. While they haven't experienced a good soaking they've warded off some spring downpours without an issue.

Great product, great look, and great customer service.
