I have worn a lot of tactical shirts of various fabrics and styles throughout my 22 year career. This is by far the most comfortable, versatile and well made tactical shirt I have ever worn. The cuffs have the perfect amount of Velcro and our angulated allowing them to be pulled from almost any direction, when they open it is sufficient enough to look at your time piece or whatever you have on your wrist without exposing your entire arm or compromising your hand position. The sleeves are tapered perfectly so they are not tight and not overly baggy while still allowing room for the inserted elbow pads. The elbow pads by themselves warrant a different review due to be the great nature of their construction. The shirt also comes with epaulettes at no extra charge for those that are using this on duty and require them for rank or microphone attachments. The collar is perfect length to be folded down and to put pins in if required and tall enough to have a Shemagh wrapped around your neck when completely slipped up or down. The construction of the shirt with thicker materials on the outside and durable breathable, stretchable materials on the inside allows for the largest versatility of all. It states that this is done for the assistance of plate carriers or load carriers. I tested this using the Condor MOPC plate carrier, fully loaded with 3x3 magazine kangaroo pouch on the front. Fully loaded trauma kit on the right and utility pouch and drop pouch on the left, full 10 x 12 coated hard metal plates front and back with 6 x 8 hard plates on the flanks. On the rear attached was a molle tactical backpack. I retested it again with soft armor plates and trauma pads, same set up. I was at the indoor range, outdoor range and kill house. I did the 3 gun challenge and long range shooting, sitting, standing and prone. During all of this the Defender shirt moved with me at every turn. Never did it twist, bunch or pinch. Adding the elbow pads relieve a lot of arm stress especially when firing prone and sitting. This is one of the best shirts I have ever had and is worth every penny.
The drawbacks are minimal. The velcro would benefit from being 1/2-1in longer and having a more aggressive loop structure. My patches tend to loosen up on the edges. To make sure it was not relegated to one set of patches I tried 9 different patches with the same result.
