Vertical orientation attaches to front or side, adds 3L without a lot of bulk. Straps onto the pack bottom as well.

My favorite pouch

The pouch is extremely well made and the perfect size for all sorts of gear. I mount these on the sides of my backpack to store items I want to have quickly on hand. The removable foam padding is a bonus.

Solid big pouch

First off, this pouch is BIG, so be sure you need that much add-on space. If added to the back of your pack, it will add significant depth to the pack as well as shift weigh posteriorly. The foam cushion is nice touch because you will tend to place quickly-needed items there (binoculars, cameras, etc.) and the pouch might be the first thing that hits the ground or gets bumped. I like the bright color of the foam pad lining for fishing items out in low light. Dual elastic-closure internal pouches are handy for small things (ear buds, ear pro, etc. Of course, it is secure with the Molle attachment. With four stiff stays, you will get Molle-fingers, but it ain’t going’ anywhere. Recommended.
